Nintendo Wii points are a form of payment used by Nintendo for its consoles that can be used at the Wii Shop Channel to buy whatever you need for your Nintendo Wii. In fact, it is also possible for gamers to buy the Nintendo Wii points through online credit cards or by physically visiting a retail store selling Wii points and the main use of these points is that they can be redeemed for different content as well as for games available from any Wii shop.

Wii Points Card Shop

As a matter of fact, soon after the launch of the Nintendo Wii, the company launched the Wii Points Card Shop where you could get the required number of points, and over in Europe, the Star Points system was launched that allowed gamers in Europe to collect enough points that could then help them purchase games for their Nintendo Wii.

So, if you have collected or bought enough Nintendo Wii points, you can buy different items from the Wii Shop Channel which in turn means buying either for the Virtual Console or Wii Ware. Basically when you wish to purchase Nintendo Wii points for two thousand points, you would need to spend twenty dollars to get the card because in reality, one point is worth one US cent.

As far as the Virtual Console prices go, they depend on the system for which the game has been developed and it is quite normal for certain titles to cost more or even less than the base price. Typically, it would take five hundred Nintendo Wii points to get NES/Famicon while the SNES/Super Famicon requires eight hundred Nintendo Wii points.

And, for the WiiWare, you would need five hundred Nintendo Wii points to get Internet Channel or fifteen hundred Nintendo Wii points to get Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King.

For those who are curious about whether it is possible to get free Wii points there is good news because you can do so as long as you put in a little effort. There are in fact a few online sites that do pay out in Wii points though you will have to open an account with them and then answer surveys that are paid for with certain number of Wii points. The trick of course lies in collecting sufficient amount of Nintendo Wii points after which you can shop for whatever takes your fancy.

Thus, if you are ready to answer a few surveys, you will find that it can be a good means of earning sufficient Nintendo Wii points to keep you supplied with new Nintendo items.
